There is another fake-antispyware-application circulating the Internet
since 18th of January 2006: PestTrap, a clone-variant of SpySherif(f).
Spyware Warrior counts about 260 fake-antispyware-applications. This list shows up these programs, some of them don't look to be similar to Ad-Aware SE and Spybot Search & Destroy. Here you find the Family # 15.
Sunbelt Blog makes you see the variant of the infamous SpySheriff, PestTrap, another member of SpyTrooper, SpywareNo!, SpyDemolisher and Spyware-Stop.
Suzi Turner of Blogs.ZDNet.com asks the user to take care not to get this new fake-antispyware-application which seems to be a very dangerous software. PestTrap was found being advertised on a new fake security center web page. Have a look to a WhoIs-Page to get more information: UPTODATESECURITY.COM.
Suzi Turner doesn't recommend
going to that (original) page in Internet Explorer.
Even in Mozilla a fake warning pops up saying "your pc is infected with spyware blah.. blah…"
As you need to see how PestTrap looks on a HijackThis Logfile, please have a look here: example.

is able to detect and to remove this fake-antispyware-application PestTrap
from the user's system.
We are giving our Thanks to the Team of Tenebril![]()
