Re: need help, computer dosen't respond constantly and it crashes sometimes.

    Welcome to HijackThis ghost1,

No infection showing in this view. FYI -some of our scans are not yet updated to work with Windows 7, so we may have to switch tools when one fails to complete. But let's get a more detailed look at things, and see if we can locate the source of the problems there.

To keep them from interfering with the repairs, be sure to temporarily disable all antivirus/anti-spyware softwares while these steps are being completed. This can usually be done through right clicking the software's Taskbar icons, or accessing each software through Start - Programs. Here are some antivirus disable tips if needed.

Download RSIT (random's system information tool) from here to your desktop. Then click on the RSIT.exe to open the RSIT display, and click the Continue button.

If RSIT downloads/installs HijackThis be sure to agree to the install of that.

Once the scan completes a textbox will open - copy/paste those contents here for review please. The log can also be found at C:\rsit\log.txt.

RSIT will also create a second log, info.txt, which will be minimized to your taskbar. Post that here as well please (it will also be stored at C:\rsit\info.txt).

You can break logs into parts and use separate posts here when replying and posting the log files, if needed.

    --------------

If that fails to complete the scan, instead click here and download OldTimer's OTL to your desktop, then click that to open the scan display. At the top check "Scan All Users", then click "Quick Scan". Make no other changes at this time.

Once the scan completes the results will open in Notepad - copy/paste those back here please.
    Lebe den Tag!

Jintan - Die Marke, bei der alles stimmt!

Re: need help, computer dosen't respond constantly and it crashes sometimes.

We always stay alert for log info that might compromise someone's personal info, but this rarely occurs. Some of the info you might recognize as personal, but only you would actually be able to make those associations.

But no malware showing in these views. Some "C:\found.xxx" folders, which suggest recent disk/file system error repairs. See if any of the recent shutdowns created a dump file we can check.

Make sure you can View Hidden Files. Also uncheck "Hide Extensions for Known File Types"

Navigate (right click Computer, left click Explore) to the following folder:

    c:\windows\minidump

And if one is there, locate in it any recent minidump(date-somenumber).dmp files created, where "date-somenumber" matches dates of any recent crashes there. If they exist, then just zip a copy of it, and send it to jintan@malwarecrypt.com as an attachment. Please place "Submitted Files - ghost1/hjt/dmp" as the email Subject.

hi Jintan, i changed my settings so my computer can show hidden files. Unfortunately The mini dump was empty which is strange because my computer crashed a couple of times. Is there more information i can send you so you can help me? Thanks

Re: need help, computer dosen't respond constantly and it crashes sometimes.

    1. Click the Start Button, type "sysdm.cpl" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box and press Enter.

    2. Click the Advanced tab. Under Startup and recovery click the Settings button. Check "Write an event to the system log". Also make sure it is set for now to "Small memory dump". (then OK\Apply\OK).

If nothing else this will set the stage in case another crash occurs.

    ----------------

And click the Start Button, type "Event Viewer" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and in the list of results, double-click Event Viewer. and press Enter.

See if you can identify by date/time error logs that match the problems you have been experiencing there.

Re: need help, computer dosen't respond constantly and it crashes sometimes.

hi Jintan, everything you told me to do to set up the memory dump was already done. Is it weird that there is no memory dump? The other thing is that there are error logs that match my problems but what do i do with them? In one of the error logs this is written "An error is detected on device/ide/idePort2" and there is a warning that says "custom dynamic link libraries are being loaded for every application. The system administrator (which is me) should review the list of libraries to ensure they are related to trusted applications"

I have a file which contains music and i have a feeling there is a virus in there. Is there any possible way that i can check if there is one there.
