How did this system acquire Windows 7? It has no driver support, so the hardware is not intended to run Windows 7, or the manufacturer decided not to support the new system.

Um, well you see, I bought a copy of Windows 7. But um, it has been running Windows 7 quite smoothly without the interruptions. I still have the Vista OS on a separate hard drive. I bought a spare hard drive and installed various OS on it. If it looks like that HP isn't going to support Windows 7 on this machine then I won't support HP regardless either. I'm going to get a Dell Optiplex 960 quad-core. There should be no problem with that right? Jintan, I think there's one more problem on my computer network that I'm confused about. It's regarding the assignment of IP addresses on my local network. Can you please take a look at it and tell me what's going on? I will send you the log event through e-mail.
Really need to have any related info posted here, in the public forum thread. That way others might benefit from reviewing the post info. I will try to check those event logs tomorrow, when I can again access a Windows 7 system. But if this is still all about that unsupported Windows 7 install on the HP machine, the point is really moot, as far as trying to solve things.

I understand, I have reverted back to Vista. Maybe in the future when I have a computer that actually supports Windows 7.
I think quite a few people with newish computers will be surprised their system does not support the upgrade. But a good choice just returning to Vista on that system.
