Excuse me for the delay, Jintan; family problems.

I've just done what you sadi and had no problem till the moment of using the Administrator Account Password. I entered the only Windows password I use since I'm the only user of my PC but it was rejected 3 times. After that, I was told to restart my PC.

I have no idea what password is my Windows awaiting for.

Users can have "administrator" level accounts, but there is also one account that was created when the newly installed Windows was first used. That is the Administrator account. So if you created a password for it then, that is the password you will need. If you did not create a password, then you only need to press the Enter button and not e type in any password.

Thanks, Jintan. You were right: clicking Enter was enough for the Admin password, so I could go on till a certain point because at the command "type test.txt > larry.txt" answer was "This parameter is not valid".

Since I saw differences between entering DOS via "Start > Run > Command, etc." (where I could see the stubborn files using the command "C:\WINDOWS>dir /p") and entering via Windows CD and option R, using the latter I tried to reach at least one of the stubborn files, but I couldn't. The command "C:\WINDOWS>dir /p" doesn't show me the C files but the space distribution of C.

Many of the command "switches" you might use in a command window are not available in the Recovery Console (no pause switch /p). If you just use the dir by itself, it should automatically pause after each "page" is displayed, and the space bar moves it to the next page.

Hi, Jintan an deverybody else.

I kept trying different "solutions" and finally it happened what I was afraid of: my Windows XP refused to open. I had no other option than format and reinstall it (I did it this past weekend), and the damn files disappeared.
