    Please check this log file

    Hi Everyone,

I'm running into multiple instances of cmd.exe, net.exe, conhost.exe I have tried googling and have found nothing. I am currently scanning my computer with Trend Housecall and Avira AntiVir Personal.

If you could look at this that would be awesome.

    Thanks,

    Charles

Re: Please check this log file

    Welcome to HijackThis.de Terracide,

I have never seen this activity in a HijackThis log before. You have used a new beta version of HijackThis, and as such cannot be considered completely reliable. Do these many running processes actually show in Task Manager there? If so, it suggests perhaps you are trying to run a 32 bit software that is not working correctly there. Did you recently install some software that might be the culprit?

For now, though uninstall that beta version of HijackThis through Programs and Features. Then although it is not created for 64 bit systems, still go ahead and download HijackThis from Here. Then click on the downloaded file to install HijackThis.

Once you have done that let's run a different scan, which unfortunately is also more set for 32 bit systems, but provides a reasonably accurate report.

Download RSIT (random's system information tool) from here to your desktop. Then click on the RSIT.exe to open the RSIT display, and click the Continue button.

If necessary allow it to locate or download a copy of HijackThis as needed.

Once the scan completes a textbox will open - copy/paste those contents here for review please. The log can also be found at C:\rsit\log.txt.

RSIT will also create a second log, info.txt, which will be minimized to your taskbar. Post that here as well please (it will also be stored at C:\rsit\info.txt).

You can break logs into parts and use separate posts here when replying and posting the log files, if needed.

Re: Please check this log file

    Hi Jintan,

    I appreciate your response.

I have figured out why I've been getting all those instances of net.exe, cmd.exe, and conhost.exe

It is because of a software provided with my NAS server.

It has a bug where it self propogates itself many many times! I have disabled the service, everything is working normally.

    Thanks a bunch!
