    Re: HJ log help

    Welcome to HijackThis.de sweeeede,

So far the log shows some MyWebSearch adware/spyware, both partially deleted by SpyBot and also as running processes there. You do have a Kaboodle Toolbar, listed here as a questionable item to keep. Too often that really means it likely does some form of adware or spyware related functions, but uses encryption or other technique to make that difficult to track. You should be able to uninstall it through Add/Remove Programs without issues.

Let's take a look at other installs there for now, but also see what the status of the SpyBot actions are, as far as it indicting a delete on reboot.

Reboot, and run and post back a new HijackThis log.

    With that Open Hijackthis.
Click Config - Misc Tools - Open Uninstall Manager.
A list of the entries in Add/Remove programs will appear.
    Click on Save List...
The list will be saved as 'Uninstall_list.txt'
Copy & Paste the contents back here for review.

Also Go Here and download Silent Runners to your desktop. Run it, and post back here the log it creates. If your protective software queries the script, allow it to run. It's not malicious. It will create a file named Startup Programs, and will notify when the scan is complete. Copy the log from the Startup Programs file back here. Here are guidelines for using Silent Runners. You can use separate posts here when replying and posting the log files if needed.

    Re: HJ log help

Actually other than a MyWebSearch remnant that all looks fine now. You are using the Trend HijackThis beta version, but as the one change to make is minor we won't be concerned about updating to the completed version.

Close Internet Explorer and all running programs and run a scan in HijackThis. Place a check next to all of the following lines, then select “Fix Checked” and close HijackThis.

    O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - ?p=ZJxdm035LCGB

Also since it is two version updates behind you should update your Java there, and remove any older versions left installed. Go here and download the latest version of Sun Java Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 5. The current file name for that is jre-6u5-windows-i586-p.exe. When you have done that, Go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and uninstall all versions Java/JRE (Sun Java Runtime Environment/J2SE Runtime Environment) and reboot. Then click that downloaded jre-6u5-windows-i586-p.exe to install the latest Java version there, being sure to reboot after.

Then let's check against a scan to make sure on malware issues, though truly looking okay there.

Go Here and download ATF Cleaner. Click on the downloaded file to run it, and select "Select All", then click Empty Selected (and close ATF).

If you have them, also click on Firefox/Opera at the top and repeat the steps (and close ATF). Firefox/Opera will need to be closed first for the cleaning to be effective.

Then Go here for an online AV scan (requires IE to run). If your AV alerts you while the scan installs ignore this - Panda's Active Scan method is often mistaken for infection activity.

Scan "Local Disks" and when finished save the scan log and then post the log here. To save the log first select the See Report button, then select the Save report button, and post that log back here please.

    Re: HJ log help

Hi. I did all that, and here's the report from the Panda Scan:

    Incident // Status // Location

    Adware:Adware/Trymedia // Not disinfected // C:\Downloads\BellesBeautyBoutiqueSetup-dm[1].exe

    Re: HJ log help

A game with the TryMedia adware included. I don't see the game listed as installed, so you can just delete that installer file Panda found to be rid of it. Any issues now we need to address?

    Re: HJ log help

Very good. Hijackthis is just a small install, so by chance you might have some future needs you may want to just leave it installed for now. Silent Runners is only a small file, but you can delete the Silent Runners.vbs file and the log it created to remove it if you would like to.

Since you did do some removal of things a good idea would be to clear out any temp storage now. For that just Go Here and download ATF cleaner. Click on the downloaded file to run it, and select "Select All", then click Empty Selected (and close ATF).

If you have them, you can also click on Firefox/Opera at the top and repeat the steps (and close ATF). Firefox/Opera will need to be closed first for the cleaning to be effective. A Handy and small cleanup tool you can use every day if you want.

Then a good idea would be to clear the System Restore. To do this, right-click My Computer and select Properties. Click the System Restore tab in the window that appears, and check the box that says "Turn off System Restore on all drives" and click Apply.

You will be asked if you are sure, click Yes. This will delete the restore points. Then click OK in the Properties window and reboot your computer.

When your desktop appears, right-click My Computer and select Properties once more. Uncheck the "Turn off System Restore..." box and click Apply. OK.

In addition, I like to recommend reviewing the information Here to make sure you stay malware free.
